About us

Selfscript is a trading name of Sequel AI Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16897137. Our registered office is 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. In this policy "Selfscript", "we", "us" and "our" mean Sequel AI Ltd. We are the data controller for personal data processed through the Selfscript app and the selfscript.app website.

The short version

  • Selfscript works fully without an account. By default everything you enter stays on your device.
  • If you choose to create an account, a limited set of data is synced to our database so it can follow you across devices.
  • Voice recordings never leave your device.
  • We do not sell your data, show ads, or use advertising, tracking or analytics SDKs. We do not use your data to train AI models.
  • You can delete your account and all synced data at any time from inside the app.

1. Information we collect

In the app, without an account (default). Your diagnostic results, goals, check-ins, session history, evidence log, affirmations and voice recordings are stored only on your device. We have no access to them.

In the app, with an optional account. To provide sync we store:

  • your email address and name (or the name and email from Google or Apple if you use that sign-in option);
  • evening check-ins (ratings, wins and reflection notes);
  • completed session logs (type, duration, time and your vividness rating);
  • evidence-log entries.

Purchases. In-app purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We use RevenueCat to verify purchases and unlock Premium. RevenueCat receives your purchase history and an app user ID (your account ID if signed in, otherwise a random anonymous ID). We never see or store your payment card details.

Reminders. Daily reminders are scheduled locally on your device. No push tokens are sent to us.

Microphone. Used only when you record an affirmation. Recordings are saved on your device and are never uploaded.

Website and early-access list. If you join the early-access list on selfscript.app, we store the email address you give us, which page you signed up from and the platform you chose, so we can tell you when Selfscript is available. The website sets no cookies and uses no analytics. It saves your light/dark theme choice in your browser's local storage; that never leaves your browser.

Support emails. When you email us, we keep the conversation so we can help you.

2. How we use your information and our lawful bases

  • To provide the app and sync — performance of our contract with you (UK/EU GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • To verify purchases and provide Premium — performance of contract.
  • To send account emails (confirmation, password reset) — performance of contract.
  • To email you about launch and major updates if you joined the early-access list — your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)). Every email has an unsubscribe link, or just email us.
  • To answer support requests and keep the service secure — our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)).

3. Processors and third parties

We share data only with providers needed to run Selfscript. Each is bound by confidentiality obligations and a data processing agreement:

  • Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany) — hosts our database and authentication servers. Account and synced data are stored in the EU.
  • Cloudflare — network security and hosting for our website and servers.
  • Resend — sends account emails and receives support email.
  • RevenueCat — purchase verification.
  • AI provider for support — we answer support emails with AI assistance; your message is processed by our AI provider only to reply to you.
  • Apple and Google — app distribution, payments and, if you choose it, sign-in, under their own privacy policies.

Some providers may process data outside the UK/EEA. Where they do, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or EU Standard Contractual Clauses. A full list of sub-processors is available on request.

4. Retention

  • Synced data is kept while your account exists. When you delete your account, your account and all synced records are deleted immediately from our live database; backups roll off within 30 days.
  • Early-access emails are kept until launch plus 12 months, or until you unsubscribe.
  • Support conversations are kept for up to 24 months.
  • Purchase records may be kept by Apple, Google and RevenueCat as required for tax and accounting.

5. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest on our servers. Access is limited to what is needed to run the service. Account data is protected by row-level security so each account can only read its own records.

6. Your rights

You can access, correct, export or delete your data, object to or restrict processing, and withdraw consent at any time. In the app: Profile → Delete account and data. Otherwise email support@help.selfscript.app. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.

7. Children

Selfscript is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Not medical advice

Selfscript is a self-improvement tool. It is not medical or mental-health treatment and does not diagnose any condition.

9. Changes

We will update this page and the "last updated" date if this policy changes, and tell you in the app about material changes.
